He began each of the 114 surahs with a brief introduction and a synopsis. This effort proved very beneficial to the readers in grasping the meaning of the Quran. He then published this separate book made up of the introduction and synopsis. They give a summary and the theme of each surah with cross-references to verses elsewhere in the Quran on the same theme.
